About the Contributors

Neil Devin, an Air Force veteran, is pursuing a B.A. in Government and Politics in conjunction with his work as a first responder in New York City. In an overseas deployment, Neil had witnessed harmful injustices experienced by the people of Sub-Saharan Africa. These events inspired him to pursue a career in politics and have shaped the way he intends to serve the world.

Michael Hugo Smith is a fourth-year B.A. student majoring in Government and Politics. He plans on attending law school to pursue a career based on protecting justice and human rights.

Aubrianna Ancona is a fourth-year Global Development and Sustainability B.A. major graduating in Spring of 2025. After graduation she will be working in the healthcare field advocating for the elderly and hopes to continue to be a voice for those who are silenced.

Lillian Broedel is completing a B.A./M.A. in Global Development, Sustainability and Social Justice.

__

Seonwoo (Sunny) Bak is a Ph.D. student in Multi-sector Communication. Her research questions include how scientific evidence is translated into policy making, especially around climate change. 

__

Maria Villarroel is a Ph.D. candidate in the Multi-sector Communication program. Her research focuses on political communication and the recent rightward shift of Latinos during the 2024 election. She has written for various news organizations such as The Latin Times, LinkedIn News, as well as worked for the Office of Media Relations at St. John's. Her news coverage includes the 2024 election cycle— from polls to in-depth interviews with prominent Latino voices— to immigration and other trends in the current American political scene.

Angelina DeCoro is a recent alumni of the Criminology and Justice M.A. program with interests in domestic violence, social justice, and sociological phenomena. Currently working in pro-bono domestic violence legal services, Angelina has been able to apply her studies to assist clients every day. 

__

Sanjana Liliah holds a B.A. in Sociology and will complete her M.A. Sociology in December 2025. Following this, she plans to earn her PhD in the same field and become a professor. Sanjana hopes to empower future generations of students while highlighting the importance of teaching critical subjects and the history of marginalized communities.

Sydney Moore is a recent graduate of the M.A. Sociology program. She is passionate about restorative justice, humanizing people who are incarcerated, and alleviating the racial inequalities faced from mass incarceration. 

__

Ashli-Amari Bent holds a B.S. in Journalism and will complete her M.A. Sociology in May 2025.  Her interests include educational disparities, the academic achievement of Black women, immigration inequalities and the impact of technology on marginalized communities. In addition to teaching students literacy part-time, and writing for adoption agencies, she works as a Graduate Assistant for the Ozanam Scholars Program, where she mentors students engaged in social justice initiatives.

Ashley Covington holds a B.S. in Communication Arts and will complete her M.A. Sociology in May 2025. She is passionate about social justice, equality, and human rights. She aspires to work with and empower young people and underprivileged communities, providing them with greater opportunities to succeed despite any challenges they may face.

Dayana Carolina Cordero-Palomo is a fourth-year B.A. Psychology student at St. John's University.

__

Alina Vulaj is completing a B.S. in Legal Studies and will begin her J.D. program in Fall 2025 at St. John's University.

__

Bindu Sukhram is a fourth-year B.A. Economics student at St. John's University. 

__

Sofia M. Salgado dos Santos is a fourth-year B.S. Legal Studies major and Business Administration minor at St. John's University. 

__

Farin Miazi is a fourth-year B.S. Biology student at St. John's University.

__

Madyson Mendez is a B.A./M.A. Sociology student. Her aspiration is to become a social worker, advocating for women, children, Latinx and LGBTQ+ issues.

Milo Aviles is a fourth-year B.A. Anthropology student with a minor in Art. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in archaeology and assist in repatriation efforts. Milo is also passionate about disability activism, LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice. 

__

Antonia Jocelyn Bryant is a graduating B.A. Anthropology student who is passionate about urban anthropology, health equity, and social justice.

__

Michaela Pierre is currently a third-year B.A. Sociology major and Government and Politics minor. She is interested in intergovernmental governance a well as photography and fashion studies. She will also be pursuing her M.B.A. at St. John's University.

__

Adrianna V. Siwek is a student in the M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

__

Alexa Coddington is a B.S. Criminal Justice/M.A. Criminology and Justice student at St. John's University.

__

Angelina Rappa completed her B.A. Psychology and is a student in the M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

Belinda Rosario holds a B.S. in Legal Studies and is a student in the M.A. Sociology program at St. John's University.

Emma Baeza is a fourth-year B.A. Psychology student and is also completing M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

Holly Anne Gola earned a B.A. in Global Development and Sustainability with a Spanish minor and is a student in the M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

Jillian Jindrick is completing a B.A. in Psychology with a Military Leadership minor and is a student in the M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

Katherine Civitano is completing a B.A. in Psychology and is a student in the M.A. Criminology and Justice program at St. John's University.

Jay'La Fenty is a M.A. Sociology student. Her  passions include community outreach, social justice, and the advancement of African Americans.​​
